I Believe in Santa

Santa is real. He is a symbol of love, charity, hope, dreams. He is the love of God. He is the smile of bouncing children. He is the missing cookie. He is the help of neighbors. He is the secret gift on your doorstep that paid the bills. He is holiday specials. He is reruns. He is being employed. He is visiting a sick grandparent. He is covering the change. He is the holiday spirit.
I feel as if I believed in him more this year than ever. As money got tight, as I bought gifts, as I recieved help from others, I believed. As I exchanged gifts with friends who loved me no matter what, I believed. As I prayed for strength, I believed. As someone said they wished he was real, I believed.
As dawn nine in the morning approached., I saw a plate covered in crumbs where there had once been cookies, and a glass of milk half empty. Santa had come alright, but not just Christmas Eve.

Back to Life

First, I'd like to apologize for not posting. But now that I have more reliable internet access I'll be posting every week(at least to start), probably on Saturdays.

Life has shifted from lazy summertime to busy all the way. I have work, school, seminary, homework, church callings, the occasional tutoring and babysitting, and then finding time to facebook, read, post, etc. All in all, life is going insane. Now any logical person would believe that I myself were insane or that I am about to, which makes sense. (You know, lack of sleep combined with deadlines, junk food, and worries.) But I've found that I become much happier when I'm busy than when laying idle. In fact, Mark Burnett, a man I've never met and know nothing about, has offered this bit of wisdom: "There's nothing like biting off more than you can chew, and then chewing it anyway."
In this chunk of illogical wisdom, I see success. Doing all you can, which seems like too much, and doing it. Being the one who's not like any other. Not going on dates with jerks and vegging out, but finding what I love and doing it.
I love the things I do, and I plan to do them. I want to be doing what I'm doing, even if I'd also like days to sleep. I give up time, (especially night time), for things that make me happy, will help me grow, and will bring me personal success.
A busy bee is surrounded by sweetness, even if it sometimes wants to sting you.
Always,
TJW

Summer

The dragon
Breathes hot breath against my neck
Sweat
Dews on my forehead
The air
Comes in humid pluffs
Drowning me as I breathe
And the sun
Beats against my skin
Flashing red
The light
Flashing white
Bright
Hot
